DESCRIPTION:When clients want to talk politics\, you can find yourself holding your breath knowing you’re navigating contentious terrain. And let’s be honest — it’s not always easy to know what to do or how to keep your cool when your clients express views drastically different from your own. \nWhen approached with ethical clarity and intention\, these moments can deepen the work rather than derail it. This free training provides a grounded framework for responding to political conversations in therapy while staying regulated\, clinically effective\, and focused on the client. \nJoin ethics and boundaries expert Kirsten Lind Seal\, PhD\, LMFT\, to help you gain clarity on ethical boundaries when discussing political topics in therapy\, equipping you with tools to maintain professional integrity and foster open dialogue. \n

SUMMARY:The Referral that Actually Sticks: Identifying Suicide Risk and Creating a Bridge from Crisis/Emergency Setting to Outpatient Care
DESCRIPTION:Presented by TPN.health in partnership with TriWest Healthcare Alliance\, Safeguard Veterans\, Society of Emergency Medicine PAs (SEMPA)\, Emergency Nurses Association\, American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners \nChronic pain\, new disability\, terminal diagnosis\, and functional decline are among the strongest suicide risk factors clinicians encounter\, and they surface daily in settings unrelated to mental health. Most medical providers were not adequately trained to make the connection. This training teaches providers to recognize the physical conditions and life circumstances linked to elevated risk\, ask directly about suicidal ideation\, and work through the resistance those conversations produce. Because referral alone rarely gets patients through the door\, it also covers brief interventions and evidence-based system models that support the transition from crisis to outpatient behavioral health care. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives\nParticipants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the physical health conditions and life circumstances most strongly associated with elevated suicide risk.\nDemonstrate direct inquiry about suicidal ideation with patients presenting in non-behavioral health settings.\nApply brief intervention strategies that address patient resistance to behavioral health referral.\nEvaluate evidence-based system models for supporting the transition from crisis to outpatient care.\n\n\n\n\n\nTarget Audience\n\nAddiction Professional\nCounselor\nMarriage & Family Therapist\nNurse\nNurse Practitioner\nPhysician\nPsychologist\nSocial Worker
