SUMMARY:GLOW Ignite Safe Zone Training
DESCRIPTION:Training Synopsis:\nThis interactive professional development workshop equips participants with knowledge and practical skills to foster safer\, more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ youth and communities. Through reflection\, discussion\, and applied activities\, participants will explore identity\, inclusive language\, allyship practices\, and strategies for creating cultures of belonging within their organizations and systems of care. Participants who complete the training will receive Safe Zone recognition materials. \nOur Mission:\nOur coalition’s purpose is to promote collaboration and communication across agencies to be able to provide the people living in our area the necessary wraparound care to prevent crisis. We realized the lack of resources available to the LGBTQ+ population in our area. Youth apart of this demographic are at a higher risk for crisis due to this. \nTherefore\, we wanted to increase access to visible safe spaces across Winnebago and Boone Counties. Our vision to create different access points across a variety of organizations in our area. \nWe want staff to feel well equipped to have constructive dialogues and foster inclusive spaces where people are empowered to embrace their complete identity\, free from the threat of repercussions or discrimination. The goal is to increase knowledge and provide skills to individuals/organizations to address the barriers in place for LGBTQ+ people.

SUMMARY:Preventing Youth Gun Violence in Rockford - June Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Presented By: Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE) \n\n\nYour voice makes a difference! By working together\, we can help prevent both gun-related suicides and homicides among our youth. \n\n\n\n\nPlease join the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford (LWVGR)\, Rockford Area Moms Demand Action (RAMDA)\, and the Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE) as we build upon the momentum of work being done to prevent youth gun violence in the Rockford area. \nYour presence and perspective are vital. Join us as we turn our collective efforts into a lasting framework and approach to drive change. \nAn agenda will be shared in advance. \nDetails: This meeting will move us from conversation into actionable next steps. Youth leadership will be developed\, and the group will co-create a long-term engagement plan. Themes will be reviewed from the May meeting\, with additional youth voices and a focus on realistic solutions and goals to address youth gun possession and safety. \n🗓️ Friday\, June 19\, 2026🕒 10:30 am – 12:00 pm 📍 Location: Comprehensive Community Solutions (Third Floor\, 917 S Main St\, Rockford\, IL 61101) \nSave the dates: Third Fridays\, June 19 \nParking: Please park in the parking lot directly across from the building on the East (river) side of Main Street (908 S Main St). You may also park along Kent Street. Please do not park in the lots adjacent to the building\, these spaces are reserved for staff. \nBuilding entry and meeting location: The meeting will be held on the 3rd floor. Enter the building using the blue and black door on the back (West) side of the building and head upstairs. \nAccessibility: There are two stairs to traverse to gain access to the elevator. If you need additional accommodations to participate\, please email Rebecca Francis: rfrancis@ignitechangesolutions.com. \nWhy are we working to address youth gun possession and gun violence? Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens. Annually\, more than 4\,300 children and teens (ages 0 to 19) are shot and killed\, and more than 17\,000 are shot and wounded—that’s an average of 60 children and teens in the US\, every day. An estimated three million children witness a shooting each year; Black and Latinx children and teens are impacted by gun violence at higher rates than their white peers. Gun violence can be reduced by addressing the root causes of youth gun possession. \n\n\n\n\n \nFor more information and to register and reserve your spot\, click here.
